There’s a big misconception in hitting that we need to take hundreds and hundreds of swings every day to get better at hitting. Quality trumps quantity in the batting cages.

At the college level, we’ll have hitters take 150 swings a day and they’re really focused swings on swing movements and they’re trying to groove their swings. For someone who’s maybe six or seven years old, maybe that’s only 10 or 20 swings.

So for every player at different levels, quality is always better than quantity. When you’re building out your practice plan for the day, make sure that every swing has a focus otherwise we’re just going in there swinging and we’re not getting a lot better.
